A creatinine/eGFR test is a simple blood test that measures creatinine and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). This may help you better understand how well your kidneys are working. Creatinine is a waste product produced by your muscles and filtered from the blood by your kidneys. The eGFR calculation uses your creatinine level to estimate how effectively your kidneys are filtering waste and excess fluid from your body. Reduced kidney function can develop gradually and often causes no symptoms in its early stages.
